Exercising that Ghosts... real i-candy for the soul.

Initially released as a very limited edition treat to fans at gigs in 2004, this is a welcome addition to itunes. Something of an odds & sods collection, this may not be the best place to establish yourself with Mr Taylor. However, even if you're not a major fan of the man, you should halt, and dip into this collection for one major, major reason... Lewis' cracking take on the Japan classic, Ghosts. Probably the sweetest piece of i-candy this side of an original Taylor tune, it's rare that a classic can be bettered by being covered, but this track is a prime example - along with Lewis II's cracking retake on Jeff Buckley's sublime Everybody Here Wants You - of master craft at work. Cruelly overlooked, but never knowingly undervalued, Lewis Taylor is a gem for modern times, and Ghosts is just another jewel set in his already wide and welcoming firmament. Shine on, LT. Shine on...

Despite outspoken support from heavyweights such as Elton John, David Bowie, Jools Holland, Paul Weller, and others, as well as critical support, Taylor never found mass public scrutiny but has even remained below the radar of much of the underground listening public....
