van halen years later

i bought this album upon release in 1978... i still have it on vinyl the i tunes store brings this LP too digital life nearly 30 years later. ive got no hair left but if i did i would be headbanging in my motor just as much now as we did upon first release.. a brill album for Old & young Rock Fans

Like Che Guevara, but more revolutionary.

This is one of those seminal albums, in the vein of Deep Purple In Rock, AC/DC's Back in Black, Metallica's Master of Puppets and Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous; no classic rock collection should be without it. It's possibly the last true revolution in rock music, the last time somebody came along and was completely different to anything else. As we all know, EVH's guitar is the tool of the revolution, his spidery lines and sputtering solos blowing the music into the stratosphere - with the advent of amps with gain controls, higher amounts of crunch were available, and the grinding foreground of Van Halen's music is full of it. The fun, upbeat tracks all benefit hugely from the musicianship of the band, and are quite something else. A perfect introduction to america's wildest band - get it now!

If you only buy one Van Halen album then make it this one
