Idina's a Funny Girl.. Who knew?

Idina Menzel like Kristen Chenoweth, possesses a GREAT Broadway voice.. no doubt about that. and like her GLEE counterpart can come undone when attempting 'pop' songs rather than standards/show tunes as their solo albums can testify, but here Idina gives her show fans what they crave and she delivers a varied but enjoyable set. Whether she has that certain something her self confessed idol (Streisand) has ,is not 100% clear but the revelation is, is that she's funny and the between song monologues are as much a delight as the songs. Poker Face stands out a little amongst the selection from Chess, Funny Girl, A Wild Party , Rent and (of course) Wicked, but its a fabulous start and as long as her song and album choices remain smart we should look forward to a live album with more depth in 20 years time. In the mean time enjoy the rise of this great star.
