Album Review

Although recorded on July 4, 1987, this bootleg from the Joshua Tree era wasn’t officially released until 2007, when U2 included a DVD of the performance in the remastered Joshua Tree box set. One year later, the audio version was released as a digital download. The 18-track set list spans the first decade of U2’s career, from the set-opening “I Will Follow” to a handful of the band's late-'80s hits. This isn't a full concert — the group played a handful of cover songs that night, three of which ("Stand by Me," "C'mon Everybody," and "Help!") are absent from the remaster — but it's certainly close, and Live from Paris is the only album apart from Rattle and Hum to document U2's acclaimed Joshua Tree tour.

Bigmouth Strikes Again!!!

Paul OB all i can say is that you didn't have to buy it. For me this is a great look back at a great period in the history of, what many feel to be the worlds' best rock band. Bar none. Listening to this takes me back to the time when you could see U2 at your main city arena. I saw them for the first time at NEC Birmingham and was hooked. This is a great album, filled with great tracks that may well be new to some of the new band of U2 followers. Enjoy it because this was recorded at the time when the band were on their way to super-stardom!

Live from Paris

A good concert which manages to remind us of the strength of U2's live shows, particuarly during the Joshua Tree tour. Whilst not quite as good as 'Under a Blood Red Sky' it is nice to hear songs from 'The Unforgettable Fire' alongside those from 'The Joshua Tree' and 'Boy'. My only criticism for an otherwise solid download is the absence of 'Where The Streets Have No Name', whether it was played at this show or not.

Stop me if you think you've heared this one before

2 stars based on the fact that I forked out £20 for the deluxe box set of the joshua tree which has the DVD of this album, and now have the option to spend a further £8 on an audio copy. - The music's great - it's U2 at their pomp, what else would you expect ? but the amount of repackaged u2 albums is getting me down. To quote another smiths lyric - buy both and feel deceived !

Through a combination of zealous righteousness and post-punk experimentalism, U2 became one of the most popular rock & roll bands in the world -- equally known for their sweeping sound as for their grandiose statements about politics and religion. The Edge provided the group with a signature sound by creating sweeping sonic landscapes with his heavily processed, echoed guitars. Though the Edge's style wasn't conventional, the rhythm section of Larry Mullen, Jr. and Adam Clayton played the songs...
