iTunes Review

Run With the Pack is Bad Company’s third studio album and its first without an obvious anthem. Whereas previous albums featured enduring arena rock and FM radio classics such as “Can’t Get Enough” and “Feel Like Makin’ Love,” Run With the Pack settled for standard barn burners that played up the band’s R&B and hard rock roots. From the opening swing of “Live for the Music,” the band is obviously settling into its groove with assurance. Tellingly, the album’s most successful single was a tough R&B cover of the Coasters’ tune “Young Blood.” But while the band’s songwriting may not have been as immediate, their performances were sure-handed throughout. These are seasoned pros, and singer Paul Rodgers was one of the more gifted vocalists of his era. He brings that effective emotive breath to “Simple Man,” “the much underrated “Honey Child,” the title track and “Do Right By Your Woman,” while future hard rock guitarists learned quite a bit from the economy and strength behind the powerchords of Mick Ralphs.

This is a brilliant album

I disagree with the itunes synopsis of this album (sorry...., surely you were referring to Burning Sky??), I bought it when it came out and wore it out, Silver, Blue & Gold is a classic Bad Co song, may not be quite the 5 stars the first two albums would get but it's got some great songs, buy it and you won't be disappointed.

itunes needs new reviewers

I agree with first reviewer. One of the first rock records I owned and still one I revisit. Despite being by half of Free, Bad Co had an identity of their own and this is so full of wonderful moments that set it apart from the first two that it stands on it's own as a classic.

Formed in 1973, the British hard rock outfit Bad Company was a supergroup comprised of ex-King Crimson bassist Boz Burrell, former Mott the Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs, and singer Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke, both previous members of Free. Powered by Rodgers' muscular vocals and Ralphs' blues-based guitar work, Bad Company was the first group signed to Led Zeppelin's Swan Song vanity label. Their eponymous 1974 debut was an international hit, topping the U.S. album charts and scoring with...
