A Little Known Gem

I think its fair to say that most people in 2008 won't have heard of Leroy Hutson. If you've chanced across this album, I can only recommend you click on a few of the songs below and get a small flavour of the talent of this "almost" star of 1970's soul. Succeeding Curtis Mayfield in the Impressions, then being taken under his wing when Mayfieild signed him to his own Curtum label, the similarities are there for all to see. Hutson though never quite gained the stardom his talents deserved, yet his legacy included half a dozen or so class albums on Curtum. If you really love to discover little known gems of 1970's soul, you couldn't do much better than this album.I realise 5 star reviews are plentyful on here, I've given a few myself. But out of some 400 or more classic soul C.D's in my collection, this one would rank comfortably in the top 5%.

Hutson would later replace Curtis Mayfield in 1971 as the lead singer in the Impressions and stayed with them until 1973, when he followed in Mayfield's footsteps and...
