Album Review

T'Pau returns with Red, its first album since 1991. The group's smooth pop sounds remain intact on songs like "With a Little Luck," "Now That You're Gone," "Giving Up the Ghost," and "Let It All Fall."

T'Pau have still got it

This is the little known about fourth album from the legends that are T'Pau. Though time has added a slight timbre, Carol Decker's is still probably the greatest female rock voice of all time. Starting the opening track, With a Little Luck, through the beautiful Giving Up The Ghost (one of my favourite T'Pau songs ever), the power of Let It All Fall, and finishing with Sweet Dreams, which could've fallen straight off the first album, Bridge Of Spies. This album rocks! In summary, if you liked their other three albums then don't hesitate for even a split second, get this.

Red Hot

When Carol Decker returned to the studio with a new band in 1997 she had little to prove and nothing to lose. ‘Red’ as a result packs a pop rock punch that deserved much more commercial success. ‘A Little Luck’ starts the party with an edgy mix between rock and pop that the Decker/Rogers partnership had first introduced us to ten years earlier with ‘Heart & Soul’. ‘Giving Up The Ghost’ and ‘Now That You’re Gone’ are both heart-wrenching odes to her now ended Rogers personal relationship whilst ‘Love Song’ optimistically drives home the possibility of future love. The albums epic shocker though is ‘Let It All Fall’, demonstrating Decker to be one of the UK’s premier female vocalists. Trademark vocals, unforgettable hooks and in fairness although under the banner ’T’Pau’, ‘RED’ was Decker’s long awaited solo album.

Quickly signed to Virgin's Siren subsidiary, the group released their debut single, "Heart and Soul," in early 1987 with little fanfare. After the song was used...
