Einaudi in Berlin

Ludovico Einaudi's music appealed to me right after the first listen of the beautifully flowing "Le Onde" and his other work always brings out so many emotions and memories as well. It is like having all four of the seasons in one day as this collection plays through, from the mellow "Svanire" to the uplifting "Divenire", the heart-wrenching "Ottemare" and the dramatic "Primavera". While Einaudi prefers to be classed as a minimalist in his work, this live set brings in a whole new mix of classical instrumentation to deliver a special one-night-only set of versions on the night of the concert, later to be immortalised in this live album.

Unfortunately the price tag does let this down a fair bit so those on a budget may wish to stick to the songs mentioned above plus "Le Onde" (except "Ottemare" as it cannot be bought individually) as these are pieces that have really defined his career and perhaps even provide the highlights of the concert. Overall though, there is no other disappointment to be had and it is music like this that makes classical music live on, appealing to aspiring musicians of young and old.
