Editors’ Notes

Big, bold and baroque, Florence + The Machine's debut album thrives on drama. Built around the effortless sweep of Florence Welch's voice, and the delicate trills of the harp, it proudly lays its emotions bare, barrelling between suffocating lust on “Drumming Song”, debilitating fear on “Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)” and the pain of heartbreak on the breathless “Cosmic Love". But Welch also understands the power of redemption: She closes with a rousing version of The Source and Candi Staton's “You've Got the Love”.

Customer Reviews

Simple yet Extraordinary

In an age of throw away pop, this is magical. This is exhilirating. This is storytelling at its finest and without a doubt one of the most perfect albums i've heard in years. With the death of a musical superstar still linguring over us, I have no qualms in saying that with this album, another one has been born.

excellent debut

this album is that good I nearly wrote a review.

Brillant debut

The best debut album since Arctic Monkeys, brillant vocals from Florence and great edgy and raw lyrics tie the album up very nicely. All the known singles are hear like dog days and kiss with a fist but their is brillant album songs like girl with one eye and especially the fantastic bird song. Shame iTunes has overpriced this album and allowed songs to 99p each. Go to HMV deluxe version for download is £6.99
