iTunes Review

“I wanna be myself, but does the world really need her?” Nelly Furtado wonders in a moment of self-doubt on her duet with the Portuguese-Canadian singer Juanes, “Te Busque.” Loose, that song’s home and the singer-songwriter’s third album, answered by proving her more welcome than ever in the pop sphere. Laying claim to the hip-hop she loved as a kid while also following in the trend-hopping prints of Madonna, Furtado made her most fully integrated music yet. Two monster singles, “Maneater” and “Promiscuous,” allowed her naughty-girl side full expression, while ceding much musical control to producer/guest rapper Timbaland. Upping the sexual ante of “Promiscuous” while carrying through the faux-New Wave promise of “Maneater,” “Glow” is another highlight. Even tracks such as “In God’s Hands,” which are closer to the soft-pop of Furtado’s Whoa, Nelly!, find their home here.

Best Album of 2006

This album is full of so many fantastic tracks. Maneater is great, Promiscuous (the next single) is fan-flapping-tastic, Glow is slick, No Hay Igual is dance-hall and Say It Right is chillingly haunting. Showtime is good too. Whilst this new musical styling is a bit weird when you realise it's Nelly Furtado - the folk music singer - but it's done so well, it's great.

Watch out for the interludes

Great album, but don't be fooled into buying the interludes. Buy the proper tracks only. Otherwise You're paying £2.37 for 58 seconds of interludes.

An Interesting Change For Her

Nelly has changed what used to be a folk type of song into a hip hop type of song and did this improve her porpularity? Yes it has and its good because she has shown how creative she can be. I am not very sure about all the songs in her album, but the single shows that the album could be promising. To tell you how well she has done for herself, i recommend that you check out her other albums on itunes and see how many reviews she has been getting compared to this one, even with the number of hate messages this album still holds a three star rating, which means alot of the reviewers are intentionally trying to bring her ratings down. Whether this album is appreciated or not, the number of reviews shows how much impact her transformation and image has done to improve this album. Idiots who criticise her for moving to hip hop, should wake up and realise that Hip Hop sells more than folk songs and Nelly Furtado wont stand idley by while her talents are thrown just because she wants to please the 5% of fans who liked her folk music over the new 40 percent who appreciate her new style of music. Good Job Nelly, Hopefully People will understand why you made this change. As far as i know, the video is Brilliant, it couldnt have been any better than it was. First time i saw the video, i thought it was Monica from friends who was singing the song. Great and it deserves my 4 stars ****

When Nelly Furtado appeared with her neo-hippie, multiculti debut Whoa, Nelly! in 2001, a dance-diva makeover seemed like an impossibility, but the singer/songwriter revived and sustained her career with the sexually charged Loose in 2006, in the process consolidating her position as one of the most unpredictable artists of her decade. Furtado always proudly displayed her Portuguese heritage, a distinction that separated her from legions of emerging female singer/songwriters in the early days of...
