Album Review

Producing five massive U.K. singles, Shed Seven's sophomore effort is the band's most consistently engaging album. Borrowing more from trad-rock than many of their peers, Shed Seven essentially created an album full of inspirational anthems — three of the album's singles seem to deal with achievement of some sort. This is no drawback, however, as many of the songs on A Maximum High are excellent shout-along, arena-ready numbers. The set as a whole is far more consistent than their spotty debut and contains very little filler. While Shed Seven scarcely explore any unfamiliar territory, A Maximum High is a very consistent and listenable disc of mid-1990s mainstream rock & roll.

A wonderful re-working of some great songs from the A Maximum High-era. Brilliant and sorely missed.

Why still can't I get the original Maximum High album??

I agree - what a great album! - but can someone PLEASE explain to me why on earth the original Maximum High is STILL not available to download??!! I've always known it was their best album.......sort it out please, make it available. You can't even buy it anywhere on CD.

pure class

loved these songs 15 years ago and still do today, and with these new wokings the band have really delivered for their many fans. stand out track for me is going for gold for personal reasons but chasing rainbows makes the hair stand up on the back off your neck whilst the bully boy reworking is immense fun. great ep
