Album Review

Released in time for the holiday season of 2007, Loose: The Concert is just what the billing describes: a package that documents Nelly Furtado's tour supporting her hit 2006 album Loose. The set contains 11 highlights from her thoroughly professional and crowd-pleasing show, notable only for how high-pitched and high-strung Furtado sounds on "Promiscuous" here (she sounds unintentionally like a female Ad-Rock). Apart from that, there's not much of a surprise here, which may indeed satisfy fans who just want a souvenir of the tour, nothing more, nothing less. Regrettably, her cover of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" — the only other song from 2006 as inescapable as Nelly's own "Promiscuous" — is one of the tunes available only on the DVD that was simultaneously released, and it would have been a nice way to liven up the CD.

Nelly Furtado live and stunning!

The live release is long overdue and will not disappoint. Nelly has an amazing voice and unlike so many artists who reveal their weaknesses through their live performances, she just seems to get better. The tracks are beautifully arranged with some great guest vocals to add to the live magic. For anyone who needs to decide whether to buy the album, my advice is that you won't be disappointed - try a track like "Say It Right" and you will wonder why you didn't just pay for the whole album in the first place.

A must have for all the Nelly Furtado fans!

Love it! Nelly sounded sooo good, the arrangement was spot on and the remixes were brilliant. Definately a great buy!

When Nelly Furtado appeared with her neo-hippie, multiculti debut, Whoa, Nelly!, in 2001, a dance-diva makeover seemed like an impossibility, but the singer/songwriter revived and sustained her career with the sexually charged Loose in 2006, in the process consolidating her position as one of the most unpredictable artists of her decade. Furtado always proudly displayed her Portuguese heritage, a distinction that separated her from legions of emerging female singer/songwriters in the early days of...
