About Rupert Gough

British choral conductor, organist, and harpsichordist Rupert Gough began his music studies as a chorister at the Chapel Royal, St. James Palace, and attended the Purcell School for Young Musicians on a scholarship. He earned his Master's degree at the University of East Anglia, and was an organ scholar at Norwich Cathedral. He has conducted many choirs and orchestras internationally, and notably led the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra at the Hong Kong Festival in 2006. Gough is the college organist and director of choral music at Royal Holloway, University of London, and he served 11 years as the assistant organist at Wells Cathedral. With the Wells Cathedral Choir and later with the Choir of Royal Holloway, Gough recorded several albums for Hyperion. He is also the organist of the Gough Duo, performing with his wife, violinist Rachel Gough. Together they have toured the United States and performed at various European festivals. Gough has recorded for Priory Records, Naxos, Hyperion, Signum UK, Regent, Troy, and Decca. ~ Blair Sanderson
