Album Review

This 1992 reissue of an LP released in 1974 contains 22 nostalgic Irish airs sung by tenor John McCormack (1884-1945). The original recordings, almost exclusively released by Victor, were cut over a span of years extending from 1908 to 1936. Indeed some may feel that he surpassed them all with his expressive interpretations of "The Irish Emigrant," "The Rose of Tralee," "The Bard of Armagh," and "The Ould Turf Fire."

The 600-plus sides he recorded, primarily for Victor Records, between 1904 and 1942 are estimated to have sold upward of 200 million copies.
