Customer Reviews

One to watch for and enjoy.

David's 'Heart of Oak' and 'Grenadiers' started well in his first album 'Best of England' but appear to have been revised for this album, also 'Barabara Allen' and 'Waly Waly'. The new tracks 'Ilkley Moor', 'Lincolnshire Poacher' and 'Vicar of Bray' seem to be popular already. This album has some regional favourites, and David enters into the spirit with accents from Geordie Blaydon to Devonshire Widdicombe. This is an enjoyable album offering good value and a voice of some distinction.

Biographical Notes

David Keith Jones sang with junior choirs in Wales then became a jazz drummer. He began vocal studies at Leicester University in 1960 and sang in student productions. In 1970 David was coached by Gerald Davies, principal tenor of the old Sadlers Wells, and sang the roles of Don Jose and Gerontius with Ian Caddy as the Priest. David considered joining Welsh National Opera but instead ran an opera group in St Albans from 1972 and worked with Norman Meadmore, a senior producer with D'Oyly Carte. One of David's guests and friend was Joanne Brown, the ITV Dubonnet soprano. She also sang 'We'll keep the home fires burning' in Sir Richard Attenborough's celebrated film 'Oh what a lovely war!'
Moving to Milton Keynes in 1985 David continued in opera, oratorio and plays including two by Alan Aykbourn where he took lead roles. In 2008 David started his VoceVersatile You Tube channel which has passed a half million views. Since February 2010 he has produced albums for iTunes which are beginning to make an impact with encouraging sales and ratings.
