Intelligent rock with guts

This is great punchy rock with meaningful lyrics delivered with a vocalist perfect for the job. The singer has edge and gravitas, and it sounds like he really means every word. Very catchy and often uplifting.

Power . Punch . Presence . Panache!!!

I stumbled across this album this afternoon searching for new and refreshing Rock music and it feels like i've stumbled on my own little gold mine. Every once in a while if you dig deep enough you will find a some classic album that will leave a mark on you. And boy this is one of those albums!

Most of todays Rock bands sound indentical. Close your eyes and and listen to a lot of todays Rock bands and somehow they all sound the same. Same production, same chords, same riffs and all the singers sound like theyre the same person singing for different bands.

In todays music originality barely exists. This album is no different really i suppose as everything has just about been done before. But what this band seem to have done is fuse a lot of influences and create their own sound. It's kind of weird listening to it. It gives you the feeling you've heard the songs before but you havent. And hard as i try i cant find one band they sound like yet at the same time this album sounds like a lot of great classic rock albums rolled into one. I'm no music critic just a guy that loves good rock music but this album stands out from the crowd.

The album kicks off with a song called "This Is War Too". A powerful tub thumping anthem that has shades of The Cult at their pomp and a pounding chorus to go with it. It's rare to hear Rock bands using Hammond organs these days but the next 4 songs power their way into your soul and somehow sound like a fusion of hard rock & punk with Deep Purple in the background. All the first 7 songs peel back your skin with powerful riffs, killer rhythm sections, anthemic choruses and a vocalist powering his way over the top with some soulful gravily vocals and deep hard hitting lyrics.

By the time track 8 comes around you think the tone is set for the album but then it changes direction and the surprise is refreshing. A few bluesy rock type songs change the tempo and tone of the album. Track 10 is called The Rain Poured Down on Me Too for me is a masterpiece of progressive rock. Its a long song that peaks and dips and grows again into a pulsating epic finale.

From here the album starts to pick up pace again with more pounding rock but somehow with more class and subtlety than the first half of the album. There are some real gems in this section. The Joy Poet, Playground Of Lost Souls & Echoes would sit perfectly in any classic rock section.

As the album seems to be building into a grand finale it suddenly drops tempo into The haunting piano version of The Rain Poured Down On Me. At first i thought what the hell is this doing on the album but it's rapidly growing into my favourite song.

After listening to this 5 or 6 times i think this is going to be one of my favourite albums for a long time to come. If you're looking for something new and refrshing and not run of the mill rock music then get this album. It's a real grower and gets better with every listen.

Got get this album!!!!

This is a very catchy album. Truly recommend a listen.....
