Album Review

After ten years of inactivity, Rebbie Jackson returned to recording in 1998 with Yours Faithfully. She received a major boost from her brother Michael, who signed her to his MJJ subsidiary and sang and co-produced "Fly Away," one of the highlights on the album. Rebbie has never had a terrific voice, but she has surrounded herself with talented producers who help make Yours Faithfully one of the strongest albums in her catalog. Only a handful of songs — such as the seductive title track, the house-flavored "Once in a Lifetime Love," and the cover of the Spinners' "I Don't Want to Lose You" — really take root, but the filler is well-produced and pleasant, making the record a surprisingly enjoyable comeback effort.

The Forgotten Jackson...

It has to be said this album is not a chart-topper and everyone knows that but this album really is not a bad album. Her voice is better than La Toyas and could possibly challenge Janet. "Yours Faithfully", "Get Back To You", "Fly Away" and "You Take Me Places" are by far my favorite tracks on the album as well as the bonus track "Centipede". I really miss Rebbie and think if she had of stuck with music and got the right producers behind her she could have been incredible... Well worth the listen...

She was credited on LPs by the Emotions, Betty Wright, and others during the '70s and '80s; she also appeared on...
