Editors’ Notes

Kellie Pickler's 2008 self-titled sophomore album offers encouraging signs. Her status as a feisty American Idol runner-up earned her a Nashville recording contract and a successful first album. This time out, she is aided by sharp production (by Chris Lindsey) and a number of smart, memorable tunes (five of which she co-wrote). Pickler’s singing is still on the lighter side, well-suited to buoyant material like “I’m Your Woman” and “Best Days of Your Life” (the latter co-written by fellow AI alumnus Taylor Swift). She romps through the deliciously catty “Rocks Instead of Rice” and winks at her own ditzy image in “Goin’ Out in Style.” Her ballads aren’t as consistent — “Somebody to Love Me” works as country-pop melodrama, while “Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You” can feel heavy-handed. She connects solidly with “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful,” a self-esteem anthem reminiscent of Martina McBride’s “This One’s For the Girls.”

Excellent Country

There isn't a bad song on this album at all and I think it might be even better than Small Town Girl. Doubts that Kellie is "real Country" are shattered once again by songs like Lucky Girl, Rocks Instead Of Rice, Best Days Of Your Life and an excellent cover of Keith Whitley's Don't Close Your Eyes. If you like good quality music then you'll love this album. Was also so glad to see the UK iTunes store finally has a Country album with the bonus tracks intact!

Just keeps getting better.

I love Kellie and loved her has album. This one is even better. Great country mix of up tempo numbers full of Pickler personality and Kellies softer side with some beautiful ballads. Fab album a must have!!!

Solid Sorphmore

An amazing 2nd album from Ms Pickler. One of the albums of 2008. Standouts: the incredible "Best Days of Your Life', the humourous 'Rocks Instead Of Rice', and the piognant 'One Last Time' and 'Somebody To Love Me'. A must have for any country fan!

In 2005, singer Kellie Pickler landed a spot in the fifth season of American Idol.
