This collector's album features Stan Kenton's Orchestra on five V-discs from Oct. 1945 and a full radio broadcast from Nov. 27 of that year. June Christy takes five vocals (including "Just A Sittin' and A Rockin'"); ballad singer Gene Howard has two spots; and the main soloist is tenor saxophonist Vido Musso. Highlights include "Artistry Jumps," "Eager Beaver" and "Southern Scandal." Although not essential (the orchestra's most significant recordings were still in the future), this is a worthwhile LP of rare material that Kenton fans will want.
