Album Review

Of the 16 selections included on this LP, only two or three are regularly reissued. Paul Whiteman's large orchestra played first-class dance music with some spots for brief jazz solos. The legendary cornetist Bix Beiderbecke is heard from on six of the selections (not always the ones credited) but the main emphasis is on the early vocals of Bing Crosby (who is heard from on all but one number) and the distinctive ensembles. 1920s collectors will want to pick this album up due to the rarity of some of the recordings.
