Album Review

The 4th Shins album is their 4th best by quite a margin. On balance I would say that it is probably worth a listen, but it is no Chutes too narrow (which most definitely is worth a listen). After 5 years of silence I was expecting a bit more, but this wears out after just a few listens, and actually feels like it is bit cobbled together compared with earlier offerings. Both musically and lyrically, it feels a bit lazy, as if they have gone through the motions/churned something out to fulfil their contractual requirements.

So worth the wait

Rarely have I anticipated an album's release. Mercer's last project of Broken Bells (which was wonderful) simply fuelled the anticipation. A personnel change has in no way diminished the quality of The Shin's output. Port of Morrow is sumptuous, deep and extends further Mercer's considerable songwriting talents. I cannot recommend this long player highly enough. I go to bed a happy man.

Sublime !!!

the shins really did change my life when I first heard oh inverted world ,James Mercers voice along with the music provided the perfect summer soundtrack I never thought I would here again. Now all these years on listening to the port of morrow on only my first listen , those feelings have come flooding back bringing optimism and joy back into my life like no other band ever has. This album is quite simply stunning ... Buy it !!!!!
