Diane Birch is Amazing!

This is the 2nd release by Diane Birch--this time backed by US indie band the Phenomenal Handclap Band. It's a great ep featuring covers of songs Diane loved when she was a teenager who listened to artists like Joy Division, Echo & the Bunnymen, the Cure, Siousxie & the Banshees, Peter Murphy and Sisters of Mercy. But she covers their songs in her own unique style, turning them into a completely original statement.

Better than the originals.

After buying Bible Belt I found this gem. All covers, but mainly covers I had never heard of before. I only believe that you should cover a track if you can take it somewhere different musically rather than a TV talent show copy. Diane's covers are far richer than the originals. I can't stop listening to Bring on the dancing horses up loud. A fantastic album (too long for an EP) in terms of both content and value for money. Diane deserves much more recognition.

Amazing

Doing a covers album is a tricky thing to do; if the artist slightly misses the mark they get absolutely slated! Don't worry about this album though, it is amazing. Diane Birch has selected songs that she loves and has clearly poured alot of effort and passion in. The songs are clearly not clones of the originals but have that soulful slant that she brings naturally - very impressed!
