Fantastic

Andy1p,

Great cd, I enjoy all the tracks their best yet, the musicianship is tight and it comes highly recommended great jazz.

Fantastic Album!

Trustworthy Sam,

This latest album from Kairos ensemble is probably their best. Both the Passion Suite and the Psalms albums are top class but the production on this goes up another level and the quality of music and variety is quite superb! Fantastic album!!

Rejoicing Blues is stunning!

unsunghero,

‘Rejoicing Blues’ is stunning. Fantastically written, gloriously played and beautifully produced. Exactly what I would hope from such a talented set of musicians. I highly recommend it. As you listen it just keeps getting better. Gem after gem. Thank you Kairos Ensemble - it well worth the wait for such a magnificent album!

Having previously heard the work of both Peter James (piano) and Tom Hooper (drums) on the formers (Peter James Trio) 'Soul Story' album, I knew I would love what these cats brought to the table when teamed with the supremely talented Dan Foster on saxophone and the uniquely awesome sound of Richard Fox on tuba (taking the role of bass player in this brilliant quartet).

Stand out tracks for me would have to be:
And ‘In Step’ - it just wonderfully conveys the fun had by the musicians in recording, writing and playing together… pure delightful joy!

‘Underground (For the Saints)’ - probably my favourite on the album. Gorgeous haunting refrains from Foster on sax and beats made up from human percussion (what sounds like stamps and claps) and Hooper’s groove-tastic rhythm, Fox’s tuba taking the form of an almost synth-like warm rumble and James’ holding it all together with delicious chords on the keys. Not to mention an opening section that is utterly sublime… I adore this piece.

All I will say is, I currently have ‘Rejoicing Blues’ on constant repeat.

If you do buy it, I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
