Welcome back boys !!

I was mad for these guys back in the nineties and was totally perplexed when they split after just two albums. I still listen to Peasants, Pigs and Astronauts which was like nothing out at the time... to say these guys are mental is an understatement. And within their well crafted psychedelic, tinged with Indian influence rock there is a great deal of intelligence. This EP sounds great which I’m extremely glad about. Looking forward to the new album and hopefully this time round they're here to stay for a lot longer. Come on everybody… “I’M A DIK, I’M A DIK, I’M A DIKTATOR… I’M A DIK, I’M A DIK, I’M A DIKTATOR OF THE FREE WORLD!!” ROCK AND ROOOOOOLLLLLLL BOYS!!!!

Just a Little Rusty

I wanted to love this, but sadly I only just about like it. Revenge of the King is certainly the strongest song on the EP but the guitar riff takes me back to a Depeche Mode song called Personal Jesus. From all the songs on the EP it was the correct choice to open with. By the second listen my feet were taping and I was playing 'air tambourine'. It has been a long time since these boys played together and my hope is that they are just a little rusty.....the momentum they created 5 years ago will take time to mobilise, but when it does, and I'm sure it will, the glory days will return.

Revenge of the King review

I thought these guys were the best thing since sliced bread when they first came out. Yes they were retro but it worked! Wandered what had happened to them when they disappeared. This short album is nowhere near as psychedelic as Peasants, Pigs and Astronauts but it shows they still have what it takes. I can't stop playing 6ft Down!!!!!!

By reviving the swirling, guitar-heavy sounds of late-'60s psychedelia and infusing it with George Harrison's Indian mysticism and spirituality, Kula Shaker became one of the most popular British bands of the immediate post-Brit-pop era. More musically adept and experimental than Cast, Kula Shaker nevertheless worked the same vaguely spiritual lyrical territory, but musically they brought the overpowering rush of Oasis to psychedelia, a genre that the Mancunians had previously avoided. Their classicist...
