Brighter Day may be full of goodbyes, but none of them is spiteful. That’s how warm country singer Troy Cassar-Daley’s voice is. Even on the heartbroken “I Don’t See You”, he sounds wounded but optimistic, turning a night of isolation into a fiddle-propelled dance party. Likewise, "My Town" and “Family Farm” pay tribute not just to old residences but to a rural Australian lifestyle that seems to be slipping away. The singer feels it’s time to move on, but this album feels like coming home.
