iTunes Editors' Notes

With the false start that opens Jamiroquai’s seventh studio album, you can actually hear Jay Kay and company trying to kick over that dusty old groove engine. After all, it was five years between 2005’s Dynamite and 2010’s Rock Dust Light Star. And then it took another two years for the album to come out in the United States. The title track opens with rootsy rocking guitars, a slow-grooving rhythm section, and a melody that eases listeners into the funk, like a slow slip into the Jacuzzi. Once inside, the drums hit a little harder and the voices of female backing soul singers flesh out the tune into a party. By the second song, “White Knuckle Ride”, everything is back in full swing with a pulsing disco beat, neon synthesizers, and a buttery bass. Kay pulls some booty out of the mix for “Blue Skies”, a detour ballad with heavenly backing singers and Studio 54–era strings; it's Jamiroquai’s best post-party lullaby yet.

JK rocks

Chelsea Davis, you listen to Cheryl Cole, therefor your opinion is not valid in the slightest. She is famous because she is pretty, and that appeals to the lowest common denominator, which unfortunately Is the majority of the population. She probably will get the top spot, which is a shame, because 10 years from now no one will remember the song. But I guarantee you 10 years from now people are still listening to Jamiroquai's albums as he has musical talent. It's quite obvious you haven't listened to the album and are just giving it a low rating because your sticking up for your false idol. But hey, everyone to there own and all that.

Oh yeah, terrific album :)

Mr

Chelsea what you will find is that Cheryl will get number one this week because all you teeny hoppers have to get it this week . As you will all be begging mummy to do so. Then all of a sudden Cheryl sales will fall week by week .and her average album will be forgotten . Unlike This album which will continue to have steady sales all throughout the year, and then go platinum again like all there other albums. Long live real musicians!

Class

JK does it again, great album. I can understand that it is great publicity playing X Factor but that tacky bubblegum music talent show is hardly the right type of platform for a class act like Jamiroquai. Cheryl Cole doesn't deserve to to wash JK underpants in terms of talent! Lol

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Active beginning in the early '90s, Jamiroquai has amassed a steady stream of hits in its native U.K. and experienced chart success in just about every other area of the world, with an irresistible blend of house rhythms and '70s-era soul/funk (the latter, especially, leading early on to claims of Stevie Wonder imitations). The band has gone though several lineup changes during their career, but through it all their leader has remained singer/songwriter Jason Kay (aka J.K.). Born on December 30,...
