Album Review

As the title implies, Golden Years 1985-87 covers Modern Talking's impressive two-year creative spurt, which saw them release no less than six albums — 1st Album, Let's Talk About Love, Ready For Romance, In the Middle of Nowhere, Romantic Warriors, and In the Garden of Venus. This collection gathers the highlights of these albums over the course of three discs, featuring hit singles like "You're My Heart, You're My Soul," "Brother Louie," "Cheri Cheri Lady," and "Jet Airliner," as well as album tracks such as "Lucky Guy," "Bells of Paris," and "Lonely Tears in Chinatown." The group's big, glossy dance/pop sound hasn't aged as well as one might've hoped, but Golden Years 1985-87 is still a well-crafted and comprehensive collection of Modern Talking's musical moment in the sun.
