Rare grooves finally available!
This album features some classic-sounding but ultimately lesser-know disco music, but there are some killer eighties groove (or Boogie as it's know in the U.S.) tracks for which SAM, along with West End and Prelude became renowned. Komiko's Feel Alright is a heavy, bass-driven korker that strangely never saw UK distribution. Vicky D's This Beat is Mine was an absolute floor filler, as was Steve Shelto's DYGYLA, which hung around the disco charts for eons. David McPherson's YCS is presented here not in the original 12" mix (or the "fierce reprise" - I know, I have the 12") but an edited, shorter version (by Shep Pettibone) that is none the less superb. Greg Henderson's Dreamin' is a jazz funk/disco CLASSIC which for me is worth the price of the album itself. The Gary's Gang disco classic KOD is here, complete with similarly arranged but far less catchy follow up. With the removal of DRM, higher quality processing and a continously growing back catalogue iTunes is really becoming indespensable.
You Can't Stop
Worth buying this album just for David McPherson's You Can't Stop. Coolest club release of 1982. Haven't been able to find this version - the floor-filler - anywhere else.
Keep on Dancing
Good album full of tracks straight from late 70s/early 80s clubland. I have been after Keep on Dancin by Garys Gang for years and it is a real bonus to be able to buy a 7 plus minute version.
