Regina Spektor

Yet another great album from this surprisingly fresh female artist. To me, the question is; Who could not find something enjoyable, or interesting, in such an amazingly versatile album? She is to me a rare gem of the anti-folk scene. Her fantastic command of notes and words make her vocally and musically Unsurpassed in her genre. Buy this album, it is a lot more than pretty songs, but a list of morals and advice on life it's self, conveyed in a both hypnotic and beautiful way. She is better live, how ever with 'begin to hope' , it is a brilliant way to be introduced to her unique sound, and the Eccentric, yet brutally spoken tracks.

Beautiful music

I love this album. I don't claim to be a spektor afficionado, but I think a little bit more production on some of the tracks has worked wonders. Its different to the live stuff, for sure (best live performance i've ever seen), but still beautiful, thought provoking and charged with emotion. Fidelity, sampson and others bring tears to my eyes and choke me up. A genuinely important artist, hopefully more palettable to a wider audience. if you don't know Regina Spektor, I would heartily recommend that you buy this album.

Russian New York Bliss

Listening to this album should be enough to go and immediatley where Regina S is playing near to you. A great voice with an interesting percussive twist... the passion of her live performance is really quite something and she sure knows how to play the piano and hit a chair with a drumstick ! Check out the other stuff too.

A veteran of New York's anti-folk scene, songwriter Regina Spektor makes quirky, highly eclectic, but always personal music. Born and raised in Moscow until age nine, Spektor listened to her father's bootleg tapes of Western pop and rock as a young child and also learned to play piano. She and her family moved from Russia to the Bronx, where she was immersed in American culture (at the time, hers was the first Russian family in the borough in 20 years). Eventually, Spektor and her family became part...
