iTunes Review

For his second full-length, Seal enlisted pop perfectionist Trevor Horn, whose meticulous production places Seal’s weathered voice at the centre of a larger-than-life tableau. “Don’t Cry” is a delicate ballad at its core, but Horn transforms it into a manifesto; “Kiss from a Rose” floats from speakers while tugging forcefully at the heartstrings. Seal’s harmonising with Joni Mitchell on the spaced-out “If I Could” even more fully reveals his grace. Seal is a stunner: an ambitious, openhearted statement from a one-of-a-kind singer.

Superb Seal

With the exception of one song, Kiss from a Rose, a truly stunning sound!!

Takes you to another place

Part two of Seal's classic phase and argubaly his most successful record on both sides of the atlantic. Dreamy, sonically layered, lyrically mature and pure beauty resonantes from the music. A great album to chill out to and watch the world go by on a sunny day.

How much had I missed this album ....

Lost my original copy to an old girlfriend and recently caught up whilst on holiday. Wonderful sounds which feel strangely current and nostalgic at the same time. Kiss From A Rose was the most commercial; good but overshadows what is a magic collection of melodies. 'Fast Changes' always makes me shiver. Great to grab this again. Don;t want to tarnish it with the 'classic' title but a must-own for any collection.

Early on, he enjoyed a very high level of success -- an Ivor Novello Award was given to him for the writing of his first single, and he won three Grammy Awards only a few...
