Strangers

Strangers

The Boston songwriter's seventh album fine-tunes her gothic folk, adding piano, strings and minimal rhythm. “This is not your world any more,” she coos on the haunted swoon of “All the Colors of the Dark”, and indeed, Strangers is a dispatch from a desolate American landscape with the double-crossing to match. Nadler confronts “fairweather friends” on the baroque “Katie I Know”, while surreal epic “Janie in Love” is a “natural disaster that blows up everything”.
