Still going strong

Another great album by the Brummie lads. Like all Magnum's albums the more you listen, especially to the storytelling lyrics, the more you get drawn in. 40 rocking years young and still going strong.

A Must Buy!

I have had quite a few listens now to this album and its fantastic to say the least.
It has a fab mix of songs, some heavy, some melodic and some very relevant to todays society and very thought provoking such as the tracks "Shadow town", "Didn't like you anyway" and the wonderfully haunting "Putting things in place".
My favourite track on the album is the excellent "from within".
Possibly in my humble opinion this album is Magnum's finest to date in a majestic 40 year Career.
The genius Tony Clarkin's songwriting and guitar playing just gets better with every album, Bob Catleys vocals as per usual are spot on, Mark Stanway's expert keyboard playing is prevalent throughout and the rhythm section of Al Barrow on Bass and Harry James on drums are as tight and accomplished as ever.
A must buy for any rock fan.

Painful

One of the better 'new' Magnum albums; not quite as good as Alice, but not far short; So Let it Rain and Shadow Town being particularly strong, but still with a couple of the 'insert words to same dirge music' tracks that have been present since Brand New Morning. There seems to me to be a lot of pain throughout - a very intense Magnum experience and overall, a very good album that I'm happy I bought.

Biography

Formed: 1975 in Birmingham, England

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s

Hard rockers Magnum got their start in Birmingham, England, in the mid-'70s. The band's first album, Kingdom of Madness, came out in 1978, right in the midst of the punk rock musical revolution. That timing may be one factor contributing to the band's unknown status. 1979 saw the release of Magnum II. After extensive gigging, the group released Marauder, a live album in 1980, and Chase the Dragon came two years later. Going back to their "album-a-year" pace, The Eleventh Hour was released in 1983....
