Another great album

Age of the Fifth Sun sees God is an Astronaut return after their self titled album in 2008. Once again this is post rock big enough to fill stadiums, in my view they are still unparalleled in this genre, but Jakob may have something to say about this soon! This album doesn't have the intensity and immediacy in comparison with its predecessor, but the pacing of this album is more varied and the overall feel is sombre where that album was charged. I guess the more varied pacing will not be to everyones taste but I like the progression. Fans of old will not be disappointed and new fans will be tempted.

Fantastic as always

I was first drawn to this band in 2008 while at the Oxygen Festival in Naas, Dublin. I was walking to see another band and heard their music coming from a side tent, drowning out the main stage which wasn't that far away. This may sound a little over the top or a bit stupid but the music literally gripped me and pulled me in. Once there, I stood transfixed for the duration of the set. Back then they were amazing, the sound quality of their live show was fantastic and nothing has changed. Since then I have owned every album. This one should definitely be added to your collection. Yes it's not as power driven as the last album but that a good thing, change is needed. This album takes you on a more leisurely and thoughtful cruise into your imagination and shoes the guys have more to give and not run out of ideas.

The band's status was further boosted by their active anti-war stance and their fierce live performances, which place a lot of emphasis on the visuals: the shows, especially in the band's earlier days, included self-compiled videos for each song and a lot of lighting...
