The purists will probably go for the acoustic blues of the Mississippi delta, but for me it's the electric blues born of the Chicago scene that really gets my mojo working. If Muddy Waters, BB King, Howlin' Wolf et al float your boat then you've just gotta love the slide guitar and hell-hound vocals of Elmore James. Man, that guy sounds like he's been hurt! Four stars rather than five coz there are one or two humdingers (like 'Fine Little Mama' and 'The Sky Is Cryin') missing from this anthology. However, a great intro to the man. Give it a go.
