I was three when this album came out, and my Dad bought it on cassette in a Christmas sale about four years later. I grew up with these songs etched on my eardrums. The insight, the poetic storytelling that I now recognise and nodding at James Taylor.

Turning thirty still makes me pause every time I hear it. Prompting me to question what I am doing with my few days on this gloriously-bonkers planet.

Sure, it’s awash with 80s sounds, but you can still expand your heart by spending time with these songs.

Pioneering Christian rocker Randy Stonehill began playing guitar at age ten, within three years winning grand prize in a citywide talent contest held in his native San Jose, CA. He issued his debut LP, Born Twice, in late 1971, and in 1973 recorded Get Me Out of Hollywood, which was never officially released; Welcome to Paradise, his first major album, followed in 1976.
