Editors’ Notes

This scintillating debut from the Birmingham Conservatoire graduate melds perfectly an ear for unique melodies with her versatile, gospel-tinged vocal. The result is an album which darts between Caribbean, psychedelic and jazz influences and forms walls of symphonies, all energised by Mvula’s charm. Opener “Like the Morning Dew” calls forth a heavenly orchestra, the ecstatic “Green Garden” is impossible not to grin through, while “Is There Anybody Out There?” is bombastic, cinematic and entirely gorgeous.

This pure raw talent!!

The production is amazing with a soul jazz feel... this is NOT a standard RnB album...

Probably the best thing i've heard in 4/5 years...

I don't usually listen to this type of music but Laura's voice simply blows you away...

Wow it's fabulous

This is a very different sound to most things around at the moment. I do like a good strong soulful female singer, and there's lots a pretty melodies and relaxing rhythms to soak up. She does remind me a lot of Shingai Shoniwa (the voice of Noisettes) who has one of the most unique and fantastic voices around. I would give this album and Laura Mvula a big thumbs up - It's definitely worth a listen.

sounds amazing

Her voice is so different and every sound she makes does something to your ear! magic
