Indispensible

I urge anyone who loves guitar-based music to listen to this landmark album. Dire Straits never managed to capture the magic in quite the same way after this stunning debut which sounds as good today as it did upon its release. It has a unique, haunting quality that is shimmering with some of the most evocative guitar textures ever recorded. Standout tracks are the opening 'Down To the Waterline', the gorgeous 'In The Gallery' and the brooding 'Wild West End'

'she was greasy with the money'...lol that's original. And then finally, the last track, talking about the lions..a charming, relaxing track to finish with

The First and the best

Cale, but they also had jazz and country inflections, occasionally dipping into the epic song...
