one of those groowers

Don't know how stumbled across this album, but liked the sound of Gretchen's voice and thought I'd give it a try. Its one of those albums you listen to and don't quite get, but think I'll keep trying because of the vocals. 'Come to me' is a Bjork cover and perhaps the best way into the album for people who don't know anything about Gretchen, its followed by 'Nonvignon' which is beautifully hypnotic piece which drifts in and out and then hooks you totally. Some people will compare her voice with Bebel and Astrid Gilberto and its a fair comparison, yet I would say her voice is more fluid than Astrid's, it wraps around your brain like smoke and never leaves.
