The Wait Has Been So, So, Worth It!!

It seems like its been forever, but what a belter of a third album, that just oozes creativity and amazing songs. I know the third has just come out, but the fourth album should and could be exceptional. Personal opinion I was not that carried away with In Love and Death, especially when the debut album was just flawless on every level!! But Lies for the Liars is better than In Love and Death- and shows the band shift towards a more pop sound- without sacrificing any of the emotion or heavy riffs that we love the band for! Personal stand out tracks for me- well i know its corny but there isnt one i didnt enjoy or wasnt hooked by- I will say Wake The Dead though for now!! The strength of how good this album is, is that I have listened to it just once, and was hooked right away, so im gonna finish this and get listening again!! So dont let any negatives like "its not as good as In love...etc" put you off, this is a brilliant album. Buy it, listen to it, embrace the infectious grooves, riffs melodies, and the kind of gangsta rap right at the end!! (CD Version) Bring on the Autumn tour!

a good attempt

this album is ok, but not living up to the prevoius album 'in love and death', this has too many slow songs, not rlly sounding lk the old used, we all love.

well worth it!

I first found the used on yahoo! videos. The "all that i've got" single was prone to playing. I loved the song and creativity of the art on the video. I later purchaced the "in love and death" album (which i have listened to non stop) I most recently purchaced their older self titled ablum. Both albums have their differences and are both congratulated by most people i know and most of the reviews on here. I find "lies for the Liars" has snippets from both albums and also its own original style. It still has the used's own emotional, original, intence and sometimes spine-chilling lyrics and of course Bert still brings his own mark to every track you could find no where else, be it his trade mark cackle or just his style of singing. Some have commented that this album resembes "black parade" and yes i can see where they are coming from but do not entirley agree. "hospital" mainly gave me this feel and was not the best track on the album. The fact that The Used arn't just a band with drums and guitars shows creativity and excelent musicianship. It shows they are experienced and arn't just a few kids who threw a few songs together, they are obviously really passionate - enough to reach out to new sounds. some of the deep, slower tracks on the album inlude "find a way" and "smother me". "smother me" is emotional, almost happy with a deadly slant. "liar liar" is an extremly unieque song just by looking at the lyrics you can tell it is going to be different "liar liar pants on fire the pills go down and get you higher" id say one of their most adventurous yet. my favorites and a must for any fan are: paralyzed smother me pretty handsom awkward find a way over all an excelent album i will not stop listening to for a long while yet!

Formed: 2001 in Orem, UT

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

The members of the Used had to overcome poverty, homelessness, and substance abuse, not to mention the straitlaced attitudes of their hometown of Orem, Utah, to bring their screamo-tinged brand of post-hardcore to life. But they persevered and earned a contract with Reprise Records, releasing their self-titled debut album in June 2002. Having only played a handful of shows around Orem prior to their record's release, the band — vocalist Bert McCracken, guitarist Quinn Allman, bassist Jeph Howard,...
