Soul Togetherness 2012

This is top notch modern soul. I have every single album from 2000 to the newest one, which for quality modern soul collection is among the best Expansion to date. The only citicism i have is that they seem to include less older material than they used to. But saying that, Maurissa Rose Thinking About You has a real organic sound to it as if it was recorded in the 80's. Kenny Thomas' Turn It Up is one of his best. Ebony Alleyne's You Caught Me Offguard is awesome, far better than the track I'm In Love With A Stranger which appeared on one of the arlier albums. Cool Million do their usual bang up job, but most will probably know this track from their recent album. Big Brooklyn Red offer a great track which uses Mellow Mellow Right On (80's tune) by Lowrell to great effect, and not as long. i don't know how i ever missed the Atlantic Starr tune, worth the album for that alone. not too fussed on Jarrard Anthony or Sunlightsquare tracks, or the Beggar & Co. tune (sounds like Blackbyrds, but sombre, not sure how you could dance to that, maybe smooch with your woman). All in all a very very strong album. i do miss the Fleetwood weekenders though. Ketty
