Quirky flaired pants, one 'Computer' and very cool, yet pointless zipped sleeved outfits (oh why??) Space 1999 is one of the kitch 70's shows that's somewhat disappeared, but in reflection, light years ahead of is time in so many ways thank to good scripting and acting. Season 1's opening score is essentially a perfectly written and executed music score - an excellent opening 10 seconds and punchy throughout, this is classic Barry Gray with a 70's twist. A pure slice of TV soundtrack heaven - ahhh!

Brings Back Memories

Didn't know there was a soundtrack album for this series which I loved as a kid. Most of the cues were instantly familiar. Its interesting to note that Barry Gray - a regular composer for Gerry Anderson - didn't compose all the pieces included even if he is credited as doing so... for example "Atonement" is an electric sitar piece by Jim Sullivan (who performed it in the episode "The Troubled Spirit") while the strings of "Arkadia" is two different pieces by a pair of French composers. Nonetheless a joy to listen to if you loved the series, or are a fan of Barry Gray

and not one of those nasty cover versions you get on the other "cult tv themes" albums..Yes these are originals, yes they are the best, yes the do bring back lots of memories. just dont get on a eagle with alan....he always crashed!!!!

Although he was engaged in the writing of music for all manner of television programs and even a few feature films scattered between them, Gray inadvertently provided the "soundtrack"...
