iTunes Review

The X Factor winner’s debut reveals impressive soul behind the powerhouse vocals. Never overdramatising, she infuses convincing pain into piano ballad “I Will Be” and “Bleeding Love”’s distorted pop with performances that dissolve any cynicism about her reality-show roots. Her versatility is equally impressive and she’s just as assured with a coolly restrained cover (“The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”) as an R&B thumper (“Take a Bow”).

moaning about the cover!

Guys, whether the song being covered is a recent release or not is not really a point to debate - no-one seemed to mind much that Amy Winehouse & Mark Ronson's version of Valerie came out a year after the Zutons' original release. Further to that, Leona first sang this on Radio 1's Live Lounge, where artists are encouraged to perform the songs of other artists, most of them recent. It turns out her version was popular so it was decided she should do a studio version and release it. And just as Amy & Mark made the Zutons a little more popular, Leona just might switch a few people onto Snow Patrol who otherwise might not previously have been interested (my sister included). Personally, I like the track. It gives the song a different slant and is a worthy interpretation - it's for a different audience than the original but it certainly does the original justice. I'm not totally into everything Leona does but there's no mistaking she's got an awesome voice. Delve into her past a bit and you'll see she was into more folksy, jazzy stuff than the more populist stuff she's doing now, which makes her all the more interesting. And she's obviously a nice person to boot. As for the rest of the album, there are some cracking songs in there - may not be the style everyone likes but I'm at a loss to understand why people who don't like this style of music bother to post negative comments about it. If it was a bad album of the genre, fair game - but this is incredible stuff. So can we stop laying into her and concentrate on the music?

Some people are Hilarious!

Leona's version of run is hardly rubbish.. It make's me laugh when Snow Patrol fans say Leona's version is rubbish and that she can't sing, yet "Run" is currently number 1 and has beaten the record for a number 1 only on downloads beating the current champions Kayne & Estelle by over double. Clearly Leona is better than Snow Patrol's version as she has pretty much equal pegging with SNow Patrol's sales overall and this has only been out for a week! :@) I think Snow Patrols version is amazing and I'm a Snow Patrol fan, I am sure Leona was given the rights to this song, SO what's the big deal stop comparing the two when there completely different Artists, If Leona had released Run for the first time there wouldn't be all this fuss...No One complains when Bands like Girls Aloud release Songs that are covered.

Stunningly Fantastic

This is the most amazing cover i have ever heard. And for the people saying she can only get hits with covers have you not heard of things like hmm...BLEEDING LOVE!! that has been number one in over 32 countries and Better In Time that has been on the united world chart for over 30 weeks and Forgive Me which was number five here. All of her songs have been in the top five or number one here and more than half of them were not covers. So stop having a rant because you are obviously not a fan of Leona Lewis cause you wouldnt waste your time to write a review about it.
