perfect christmas

I'm not sure why there are no reviews of this already. It's a perfect mix for Christmas and no commercialism - it captures the sadness, humour and nostalgia for Christmas perfectly.
If you love Thea Gilmore you'll love this - don't be put off that it has a Christmas theme - very far removed from any X factor type nonsense - a singer songwriter who captures feelings perfectly

Another great album from Thea.

Just what Christmas needs

Every year I look for something different to listen to at Christmas instead of the usual supermarket piped music that permeates our eardrums at this time of year. Last year I found Mary Chapin Carpenter's 'Come Darkness, Come Light' but this year I discovered this wonderful album which kicks into touch anything I've listened to previously. It is full of variety and an absolute treat sung by someone I wish I'd picked up on before but now that I have, I have increased my collection with many tracks from Thea's other albums. How could I have missed out on Thea Gilmore when I consider myself to be reasonably well up on my female singers. This album begins with the ethereal 'Sol Invictus' which sets the scene, continuing with another ten magical Christmas gems that are so refreshingly different and uplifting. This album and Thea deserve to be heard by a wide audience. My sentiment for Christmas is 'Get rid of the crass and listen to this lass!!! '

Later, she found comfort in the work of Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, and the Replacements, naturally absorbing the intelligence behind each artist's work. Gilmore began writing poetry and short stories to amuse herself amidst her conventional surroundings,...
