Album Review

This iteration of White Wizzard shares only one member — the bassist — with the one that recorded 2009's seven-song High Speed GTO EP, and based on the auditory evidence, that's a good thing. The New Wave of British Heavy Metal riffs and galloping tempos are even sharper and more headlong than they were before, the new vocalist's upper-register yowls are utterly convincing, and the band as a whole is a tight riffing machine. There's plenty of dual-guitar lead action, including traded solos, too, which is always a plus. The lyrics, of course, are patent nonsense, with songs like "Live Free or Die" and the title track offering positive-thinking mantras Ronnie James Dio would love. They have their own theme song, too; "White Wizzard" kicks off with a doomy intro, quickly becoming a midtempo, primarily instrumental anthem with a prominent bassline in the classic Iron Maiden style. On this album, White Wizzard aren't much more than the sum of their influences, but they do hark back to a time before grunge (even before hair metal) when metal was fun, and that's something.

"Stand Up For METAL!!!"

When was the last time you heard someone other them Manowar say that? White Wizzard are a band out of their time. Taking their Maiden and Priest influenced Metal and freshening it up a bit, Wizzard have become a musical assault of Overdriven Guitars and Over The Top Vocals. This is even better then their EP debut High Speed GTO, which was a highlight of 2007. A better line up too. Their are many highlights too this Traditional metal classic has riffs coming down like rain. Highlights being "40 Deuces", "Live Free Or Die!", "Death Race", "Stike Of the Viper" and the title track. But their are earth shattering songs such as the thunderous "White Wizzard" and brillient "Iron Godess Of Vengence". The next Judas Priest. BUY!

What year is it.?

Feels like ive been taken back to the mid 80s. reminds me of a Early Anthrax with twin guitar sounds of Iron Maidens early records.
Great music. This band is a must listen for any metal fan.

White Wizzard were formed in 2007 by vocalist James Paul Luna, guitarist James LaRue, bassist Jon Leon, and drummer Tyler Meahl, and, amid the surrounding din of retro-fitted thrash and glam rock bands crowding around them, chose to tackle the New Wave of British Heavy Metal on their eponymous seven-song EP the following year. Boasting cover art designed by Iron Maiden artist Derek Riggs, the EP drew the attention of Earache Records, which included the track "High Speed GTO" in their Heavy Metal...
