Melancholic, thoughtful, so beautifully crafted. Perhaps sits alongside Jose Gonzalez et al on the shelf, but with the stand-out tracks being 'love will find a way' with its brilliant laid-back staccato shuffle and teasing lyrics, to the amazing 'jersey clowns'.
Just can't listen to it without deciding to grab the keys, get out of the house taking out the car; shutting everything out, turning the music up and just driving and driving. It just taps into my soul. The rest of the album contains some very listenable stuff, and hell, after writing those two, I'll be a fan no matter what.

Although born in Nebraska, singer/songwriter Josh Rouse moved to various cities throughout his childhood and subsequent musical career, driven at first by his father's military career and later by his desire to take inspiration from different environments. He paid tribute to his birthplace on his 1998 debut, Dressed Up Like Nebraska, and explored the influence of his adopted home state, Tennessee, with 2005's Nashville.
