MQC is wrong

on so many levels. Now to be fair a-ha were the first band I loved and wore out their first 3 albums on tape. I have also recently seen them live and they were sublime so I have to admit bias. There is an 80's quality to a-ha's early albums but they haven't dated (well not to much). A better reviewer than me likened them to Coldplay (in a good way) and in some respect this is a fair comparison in that it is pop music with quality music and sensitive lyrics. Maybe I'm being nostalgic but the first 1/2 of the tracks from their early albums are well worth the effort, especially Sun always shines on tv. The later stuff a-ha grew up quicker than me and I discovered John Peel and indie so we went our separate ways but I have always kept playing their first greatest hits album much to my wife's annoyance. Now I'm a proper adult i am rediscovering a-ha, sadly as they "retire" but better late than never. This collection is well worth a go. Their 2nd album is also brilliant especially the title track "Scoundrel days". Enjoy!

Essential listening

If you like "real" music this is a must.

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

By late 1983 they had achieved part of that goal by signing to WEA. "Take on Me" took three times to become a hit in the U.K., eventually hitting number two in November 1985. Going one better in the U.S. mainly due to the wide exposure of its stunning video on MTV, which fused...
