I'm Surprised (In A Good Way)

I have not indulged in movie scores since The Deathly Hallows Part 2. Especially horror. I must say this score is quite similar to Dead Silence soundtrack by Charlie Clouser. I was expecting the score to follow along the same technique and tone as Joseph Bishara's work, however it's droning and rather dramatic textures make it seem less like a horror score. However that does not downgrade it in any way. I admire Beltrami's work here. I have not listened to many pieces by him, but this score makes me want to listen to a wider selection of his work. This score is a great effort, but not the greatest horror score I have listened to.

That is probably because this is a ghost story, not a horror.

Very effective music underscoring the impressive visuals of this film. Wisps of sound and shifting textures help create unease and an intense mood throughout the film. The playoff between soundscape and childlike patterns is unnerving. A modern Ghost classic.
