Classic transcriptions of Husky working his magic with his regular road band, the Hush Puppies. Husky has always been one of country music's most versatile performers, alternating between his heartfelt singing and his comedy alter ego of Simon Crum. Here he alternates between both personas, singing his heart out on tunes like "If You Be My Baby," "I'm Sittin' on Top of the World," "I Feel Better All Over (More Than Anywhere's Else)," "(I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons," and "Gone" while doing comedy with Red Foley, George Morgan, and a brace of imitations, including a surreal one of Roy Acuff singing "Hound Dog." This is a superlative package, with clean transfers of the original lacquers that go a long way toward enhancing his image as an all-a-round entertainer with talent to spare.

Ferlin Husky had three separate careers. Out of the three, the best known is his country-pop career, which brought him to the top of the charts in the late '50s, but he was also known as a honky tonk singer called Terry Preston and a country comic named Simon Crum. Of course, Preston and Crum are just footnotes to Husky's very popular career, even though Crum nearly became a household name as well.
