if you are a weller fan, you may absolutely love this change in direction. if like me, you never got passed stanley road, you may agree that this is a total rip off of gruff rhys and the super furry animals, in fact when i first heard some of the new stuff, that gets maximum airplay due to it having weller stamped on it. i actually thought it was new, somewhat poor, gruff rhys material. thankfully it isnt ,and gruff's reputation is intact. oh and while im at it, do you think there is any chance weller may actually smile at some point.

Good single alround

This is a good single package alround. I suspect 'The Piper' was be the one track people will head for as the other two are already known to us.
'The Piper' is a really good piece of pop. In the centre there is a psychodelic mix that I am sure sounds like Queen's I'm Going Slightly Mad' mixed with a fuzz guitar and distorted percussion, and throughout the song I am sure I can hear George Harrison's guitar lick for 'Taxman' but I maybe mistaken.
Overall a good single and very enjoyable in that we have more than 24 hours to download!

i have always loved paul weller but what had happened to his voice,it seems to have lost its very disappointed with his new material. sorry will give this one a miss.

During the final days of the Jam, he developed a fascination with Motown and soul, which led him to form the sophisti-pop group the Style Council in 1983. As the Style Council's career progressed, Weller's interest in soul developed into an infatuation with jazz-pop and house...
