Exquisite and oh so real!

A truly live experience of some of the finest folk tunes delivered in sensitive and intelligent fashion with angelic vocals from Brigid Mhairi hauntingly accompanied by Richard Dunn.

Having had the immense privilege of hearing the young mistress of folk and the guitarist extraordinaire perform live I can vouch for What You Hear Is What You Get.

It is real, it is true and it is superb listening, with romance, love, longing, sadness and a good measure of mirth thrown in. Jamie Come Try Me has never sounded so, erm, so "earthy" and Mhairi's Wedding might as well have been written for Brigid Mhairi.

The album achieves its aim of bringing the folk traditions alive in this day and age, proving that Robert Burns is as relevant today as he was in his time. And that live music is where it is at in regard to soul and "realness".

As a fan of Scottish music this was an absolute must have purchase for the collection. Brigid Mhairi's voice is outstanding throughout whilst the acoustics and voice from Richard complete the album. I particularly enjoyed Caledonia, I have listened to it at least 3 times since I downloaded album 15 minutes ago!
A beautiful album and thoroughly enjoying listening to. A must have album for Scot's music fans.

Fresh and very mellow listening

It is hard to pick a favourite among such a fine selection of folk songs with such purity and complete understanding of the lyrics but if I were to try I would probably pick "Ae Fond Kiss" as it pulls at your heart strings most roundly. "Glencoe" is haunting but the acceptance of fate in "Loch Lomond" makes me feel that nothing is so bad that it cannot be conquered. And "Mhairi's Wedding"? I love it! This is a very fine collection and true argument for live music. Folk music at its best- raw, tongue in cheek and very much alive. I listen to my hard copy daily. THANK you to Brigid and Richard for doing this. And when's the next one due? ;)
